The Kohechi Route of the Kumano Kodo

The Kohechi route of the Kumano Kodo connects Mount Koya and the three sacred sites of Kumano with the shortest distance. It traverses the central part of the Kii Peninsula from north to south, crossing three mountain passes with elevations of over 1,000 meters, including Mount Hakkenashi, making it the most challenging pilgrimage route among the Kumano trails.
